The model year 2003 represented the 50th Anniversary of the Chevrolet Corvette. Growing from an underpowered and impractical two seat roadster to American's sports car, the Corvette had benefitted from years of refinement and upgrades along the way. In celebration of this milestone, Chevrolet division went all out to create a truly unique anniversary model that was more than just a paint and stripes package. Offered only on the base coupe or convertible Corvette, the 50th Anniversary package consisted of special Anniversary Red paint, champagne gold painted five spoke cast aluminum wheels, shale colored interior with matching cloth convertible top, anniversary emblems, and the most important part, the worlds first production use of magneto-rheological shock absorbers. These trick units used an iron infused fluid that could alter the damping characteristics to suit road conditions in milliseconds. No longer did a sports car need to ride rough to handle well, this system gave you the best of both worlds and you didn't need to change settings or move switches, it did it all for you automatically. This system has been refined through the years and is in use not only on modern day GM products, but GM even licenses this technology to Ferrari for use in their road cars, it's that amazing!! The 50th Anniversary model you see here looks amazing in its special Anniversary Red paint finish. The paint has a deep gloss and is all but scratch free, befitting it's low mileage status.
