The Porsche 356 is the genesis of the Porsche sports cars we all know of today. Created by Ferdinand "Ferry" Porsche, son of the company founder, the 356 was built with the idea of producing a small, lite weight sporting car that utilized a rear mounted engine and body architecture adapted from the original Volkswagen Beetle. Built in Zuffenhausen, Germany, the original 356 of 1948 soon gave way to the updated 356A in 1955, and then on to the modernized 356B of 1959. The gorgeous example you see on offer here is a four-cylinder, air-cooled, rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive car with unitized pan and body construction built in 1960. Finished in "Signalrot" (signal red) over black vinyl with matching black cloth convertible top, this 356 is in almost showroom new condition. This car has never been fully restored or had the body separated from the pan. It has one repaint and a fresh interior with new carpets and seat covers. The engine is a 1600cc, pushrod flat four Type 616/36 from a later model Porsche 912 with dual weber carburetors and a four speed manual transmission. A date code correct block is with the car and is included with the sale. The engine has been recently resealed, the electronics converted to 12 volt, and five(Including spare) new Continental tires have been fitted. This classic Porsche is a wonderful automobile to drive. The lightness and ease of the controls make it a thoroughly enjoyable experience, while the auditory senses find pleasure in the familiar rasp of the air cooled flat four engine. The 356 is and has been a rising star is the collector car market, and this example is priced to sell. This Porsche would fit well into any collection, and is ready to show or drive with no excuses or concerns. Contact Brian at 352-307-1968 for more information.
